Caliterra Merlot Reserva
ORIGIN:
Appellation: Colchagua Valley
Grape Varieties: 75%Merlot, 20% Carmenere, 5%Shiraz.
WINE-MAKING:
The grapes were hand-picked in plastic bins, gently crushed and taken to stainless steel tanks for fermentation at a temperature which aried between 28 and 30. This stage was followed by the post fermentation maceration time. The total maceration time varied from 8 to 21 days. All lots were aged for 8 months in French and American oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation was completed in barrels, softening flavours and giving the wine a subtle oak character. The wine was cold settled during 5 days and only lightly filtered before bottling.
TASTING NOTES:
Full-bodied, smooth wine, bursting with rich plum and red cherry fruit, touches of gentle spice, softly firm tannins and a long finish.
SERVING:
Without food, or with meats, poultry, pizzas and pastas.
